Green Smoothie

Steven and I committed to drink the green smoothie for 5 days and I'm glad we did. We feel really good and we really look forward to it. I think when you start the morning out with something that healthy it changes your outlook the rest of the day. Our goal this week is to drink the green smoothie and not snack in between meals. It's already Thursday and been a very challenging week. I am doing my best not to turn to food when I'm frustrated and "sit" with the emotions. I listened to Byron Katie, I have a lot of work to do.

The Breakfast Experiment

Assignment one is to eat the breakfasts that are on the list Sue Ann gave us. I am proud to say after 11 days, I have not swayed once from the list. I have either had a green smoothie, bowl of fruit with granola and yogurt or an egg white omelet with greens. Each are satisfying and keep me full for some time. The rest of the day I am free to eat as I please. I did weight myself a week later and I had not lost anything and got really down. I want to believe that in time, my body will start shifting, but I'm not seeing the results I want. We are meeting again with Sue Ann on Thursday, so I am hoping she will help me deal with emotions that surround this.

The Beginning

Steven and I decided we were going to take charge of our health and signed up to meet with a nutrition counselor to work with us for 4 months. Our first appointment was to go over our history and sample some of the foods she would be recommending for us to eat. Some new items we tried, a green minty smoothy, a handful of trail mix made from sprouted nuts, goji berries and cacoa and kambucha. Not terrible tasting but not what we are used to by far. We are used to things I don't even want to mention here. I am way too ashamed and embarassed by our eating habits.

So,thus the blog begins. I'll be highlighting the new foods we eat and our experience over the next 120ish days.

To our health!!
